A Year to Celebrate

It has been a whirlwind since I published the second book in my Cricket Mystery Series. Both books travelled with me during last year's English summer to numerous cricket grounds and then I embarked on a 6-week tour of Australia for The Ashes. Back in the UK, and already in the midst of a new cricket season, the third book is in the works, although the release date is set for late next year to give me time to research and, hopefully, squeeze in a trip to India. There are many exciting things on the radar, and I’m grateful to have you on my journey.

AN ASHES WINTER (OR SUMMER!) DOWN UNDER

Speaking of my tour of Australia, Tess & Eddie were lucky to attend three Ashes Test matches as well as a school visit, and a couple of trips to the beach. I even stopped off at my old primary school to donate copies of both books to thei library.

The highlight was undoubtedly a visit to the Sydney Cricket Ground to meet the inspirational tour guides to whom Tess & Sabotage at the SCG is dedicated. I was welcomed to the ground, given a personal tour, and saw my books for sale in the SCG Museum. If you are ever in Sydney, please do add a tour of the ground to your itinerary to follow in Tess & Eddie's footsteps and learn more about the history of this wonderful cricket ground.

VALERICAIN PRESS

I am excited to be joining Valericain Press for the distribution of my books. Whilst remaining under my own publishing name, this partnership gives bookshops more access to my books via Gardners wholesalers, and allows customers more options to purchase the books through bookshop.org and also my and Valericain’s websites.

COLLABORATIONS

I am delighted to have collaborated with four incredible indie cricket brands as we promote and support each other. Our first venture was an Ashes Bundle giveaway which proved to be very popular.

We will again be joining forces over the year as we attend cricket festivals, etc so look out for the All. Out. Together brand. More information about our collaboration can be found here: All.Out.Together

WOMEN & GIRLS' EXPO

All. Out. Together. attended our first collaboration event on 29th March at the Wiltshire & Gloucestershire Counties Women & Girls’s Expo. It was great to see our products all in the one place. We had a few sales and made some contacts for future events.

HER GAME TOO CRICKET

It is with great pleasure that I announce that I am partnering with Her Game Too Cricket, an incredible movement that tackles sexism in sport. We follow the same ethos that girls DO belong in cricket and I look forward to working with them to encourage more girls to fall in the love with the game as much as I have.

This year, I have nominated Her Game Too Cricket as my charity and will donate a percentage of my UK book sales to them. They have been a great supporter of me and my books, with my books featuring in their Library, so I’m happy to be giving back and

helping inspire the next generation of players.

Read more about my partnership and the HGT movement here.

Through my partnership with HGT, I am joining forces with some inspirational women’s indie brands for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup and the first ever women’s Test at Lord’s. Along with Lacuna Sports, Fab Little Bag, Not That Sporty, and fellow author, Chrissie Harrison, we will be giving away two brilliant bundles celebrating women's cricket. Look out for more details on social media.

I am also pleased to be working with Sangy Theivendra who I have known through cricket circles for a number of years. Sangy is building a new website for all things women and girls to learn about the game and to connect with people whether they be looking for a club to join, or a new coach, or what kit they should buy, or, if they are wanting to buy some awesome books for their daughters!. Please do look at the website and sign up to support this wonderful initiative to empower women and girls' cricket.

NATIONAL YEAR OF READING

At the start of the year I joined the National Year of Reading campaign by becoming a Reading Champion. It’s an groundbreaking initiative to encourage people to read by connecting with the things they love. Reading and writing are two of the things I love most - along with cricket! This year I will spread the word and encourage as many people as possible to read.

“If you’re into it, read into it”

NEW BOOKS

I recently spent time in the Library at Lord’s Cricket Ground to research for the third book in my Cricket Mystery Series which is to be set in India. With still some research to do, I am looking to publish the book towards the end of next year.

In the meantime, I am revisiting a book I wrote almost 10 years ago with the aim of publishing later this year. Set in Mexico, my heroine finds herself on a treasure hunt to find Montezuma’s lost treasure. Aimed at YA readers, this book takes a diversion from my cricket brand and, as a result, I may well publish it under a non de plume. Watch this space!
